Diva Light

So I’ve been shopping around for a ring light and found they are rather expensive. I’m just starting off with making videos and I want to provide better quality video in the future. That starts with lighting. So after a very thorough search and finding nothing within my budget as a newcomer I turned to YouTube and Pinterest for a DIY. After a couple videos and decided I was ready to buy supplies.

What you’ll need:

  1. String lights
  2. Cardboard/ a box
  3. Aluminum foil
  4. Parchment paper (optional)
  5. Tape
  6. Cable/ zip ties (optional)

You can order these online for about 30€ but I bought mine at the Toom (the German equivalent of Home Depot). I got these because of the remote control and light adjustment options.

Cut out a circle for whatever size you want your ring light. Wrap that with aluminum foil, shiny side out.

From there it’s an easy process you just connect you string lights to the circle you’ve cut out and attach them with either zip ties or tape. I opted for tape because my lights were flat and the zip ties didn’t keep them in place as securely as I needed.

I didn’t show the step where I count out another part of the box (a long strip) for the outer parameter of the circle sorry. I was just so excited that I forgot take a picture of the process. All I did was cut two long rectangles and tape them together then wrapped that with foil just like the circle. After I secured all the lights I attached the strip with tape and voila the my ring light is done!

Once I got it all set up I test how the lighting looked and decided to add the parchment paper to defuse some of the lighting because it was a bit to harsh.

Well hopefully you’ve enjoyed this tutorial and can save money by making your own ring light.
Until next time 💋
